I am Marina Tishkova, a performing pianist with a Bachelor degree in teaching as well.
How did it all happen?
- Started playing piano at the age of four
- Studied at the Royal College of Music (London, UK) under internationally acclaimed virtuoso and teacher Professor Gordon Fergus -Thompson, as well as under private tutorship from renowned Houston based Ukrainian piano soloist and teacher, Galina Lay.
- Earned distinction in a piano performance examination with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music in 2016.
Professional career highlights
- Performed in Houston from 2002 to 2007 with a trio formed under my own family name with fellow native Russian performers living in Houston. We were the Romanov trio and performed regularly at weddings, parties and events in the Houston area.
- Was a staff pianist at the St. Catherine of Sienna Episcopal church, Houston, TX
- Was a staff pianist and organist at St. Mary’s Church in Streatley near Oxford, UK.
- In May 2019 successfully auditioned for a professional music society in Houston, The Houston Tuesday Musical Club, and since then perform there regularly.
Latest performances
- I was a featured pianist for the 2019 Holiday Season at both, the Houstonian Club and the Houstonian Hotel.
- I am a featured pianist in 2020 for the Holiday Season at the Houstonian Hotel.
- Performed a concert for the 40th anniversary celebration of the Houstonian Club for 200+ its members.
Teaching
Since returning to Houston in 2014 I have taught piano
- As a teacher at the Memorial School of Music,
- As a private teacher
- Lead a music program at St. Martin’s school.
